We arrived home safely after getting up at 5:30 a.m. in Maryland, got to the airport in Baltimore on time, easy check-in and easy trip through Security.  BWI airport is much nicer and easier to navigate than Denver.  The plane left on time and we were into Denver 20 minutes early with warm weather.  Only one minor hitch; I had a flat tire when arriving in the parking lot.  YUK!  That tire had never been off for years and it was a struggle to break lose the lug nuts.  I was a mess by the time that task was completed.  We went directly to Discount Tire in Colo. Springs to have them find out why it went flat and fix it.  Bobbie and I hadn’t had breakfast or lunch and it was 1 p.m., Colo. time.  While they were finding that small screw that had worked it’s way into the inside of the tire, we had lunch.  Discount Tire on Garden of Gods Rd. is always professional and they fixed it for no charge as we always do our tire stuff with them.

Everything was in order at home, except no food.  Jason has been living on TV dinners from the freezer.  No call for teaching this morning, so I’m going to take JJ to school and workout at the YMCA.  Wed. is always a good day to do that as they provide a healthy breakfast.  I’ll get caught up on bill paying and all that other stuff today as I have a Sub assignment at Pine Creek High Thur. & Friday.

I have decided not to run for City Council.  The fire has gone out of my belly and don’t want to fight with people and the system.  I read three good books at Terri’s home.  “The Shack”, “Grace” and “The Last Lecture.”  All three made me think and do some intro-spection of my life.  Some things I like and some need some improvement.  Assuming I would get elected, so what good I really be able to do.  I would be at odds with the majority on Council.  They don’t look at the long range and big picture.  All they do is think of ways get around TABOR and to not be good Managers and Stewards of the taxpayer’s money.  I have decided to work on me and how to help and support other people, those who need a boost in some way.  Our assignment with the inmates at the prison is just one of the things we could do better.  Anyway, just having time to think with no outside pressures and influences is uplifting.  The 12 days back East was a blessing to me.  I have even reconciled our not going on a Mission.  That took a major, maybe even a gigantic step and leap of faith for me.

Sad to hear Elder Wirthlin passed away.  We knew him personally as he and his wife  stayed in our home for a few days in 1994.  He arranged for us to attend Gen. Conference a few years ago with great seats close to the pulpit and the Choir.  His grandson, Robb, is a former cadet and was single, when I was Bishop in the Singles Ward.  We attended their marriage and sealing of Robb and Robin in the Manti Temple in 1994.  We used to do things with Robb and Robin and their kids when they were stationed in Denver.  Robb is now at M.I.T. getting his PhD. degree.  Elder Wirthlin was 91.

Elder Wirthlin with Bobbie and me during the time he arranged for us to attend Gen. Conference in April 2005.  We had a chance to see and wave to President Hinckley during that same trip

This is Terri, our daughter, with her three daughters; (l. to r.)Shandra, Terri, Brooke and Christy.  Shandra and Christy are married and have 6 children between them.  Brooke is getting married to a New Jersey cop Aug. 1, 2008.  Terri and Dave have two sons; Matt, who is on a Mission and Brian, who is at BYU-Idaho as a Freshman.
